"After 25 years of designing buildings, we at CDG have developed a unique method of working closely with our clients. Utilizing a process we refer to as "glass box" design, we rely heavily on transparency and client participation in order to design the most functional and creative projects possible. We truly listen to our clients' needs, and by including them in our design process, it allows us to better realize their architectural vision."

firm HISTORY
Clark Design Group (CDG) was founded in 1987 by Mark Clark and his good friend, Gener Tashiro, who he met while at Virginia Tech, and Tina Lucarelli, who he met while working at Dupont. The three of them decided to start a different kind of firm.
They shared a vision of an architectural and interior design firm that was truly responsive to the client. Clients wanted creative, innovative buildings that functioned well and met budgets, while also satisfying the needs and wants of their employees, customers, and the public.
Throughout the 1990s, CDG completed numerous sophisticated projects for the University of Delaware and the DuPont Company. These projects were complex, and often involved the most recent stage in the development of a product or process, incorporating the newest ideas and the most up-to-date features. During this period, CDG was also one of the few architectural and interior design firms used by PNC Bank in the mid-atlantic states.
In 1999, we started a planning and design association with ICI, Astra-Zeneca and Avecia. Multiple buildings were planned and successfully built, including the Biocides Laboratory and Office building. Starting with the Astra-Zeneca merger, CDG planned, designed, and implemented hundreds of thousands of square feet of new construction and renovations. This prompted CDG to earn the reputation of being the most exceptional problem solvers, prototype architects, and users of design technology in Delaware and the surrounding area. We had successfully developed a better process.
At the same time, CDG expanded its catchment area to include all of Cecil County, and stretch into both Kent Counties, Harford County and Baltimore County. We grew in size, but always hired staff with the same attitude and philosophy as the original founders. Richard Rinehart was one such employee who joined the firm, and brought a higher level of sophistication to our office with 3D design.
From 2010 to the present, we are well poised for the work we do. Lately, we have been designing numerous medical projects for Union Hospital and local medical/dental professionals. Other projects include several higher density office and apartment buildings in Newark, and multiple corporate and industrial designs for W.L. Gore & Associates.
